WHAT WE DO

We unite to strengthen our collective voice in decisions that affect our communities by taking action on issues such as poor housing, failing schools, barriers to citizenship, unjust working conditions, and costly health care that put our neighborhoods at risk. We work together for a just society.

SOME OF OUR PROJECTS

Housing
Housing and Tenants

GSOP members press for better enforcement of housing codes in the State’s largest cities, work with residents of public housing to create tenant councils, and advocate for more affordable housing.

Currently, our state is a housing crisis, NH lacks at least 22,000 units of housing. This crisis impacts all of us, but especially those at the lower end of the economic scale. GSOP supports innovative polices that increase the supply of affordable housing including creation of municipal and county affordable housing trust funds, mandatory inclusionary zoning and set asides.

GSOP works to organize tenants to advocate for tenant rights, improved housing conditions, and more affordable housing.

Immigration Justice
Immigration Justice

Granite State Organizing Project works on the local, state, and federal level to ensure that all immigrants can thrive in welcoming communities. Our Immigrant Solidarity Network meets monthly to identify areas of need and advocacy.

Economic Justice
Economic Justice

GSOP convenes the Moral Economy Table, a statewide coalition of partners representing labor unions, community groups, advocacy organizations, and social justice ministries who together advocate for livable wages. The Granite State remains the only state in New England that defaults to the federal hourly wage of $7.25 an hour, the lowest in the region.

GSOP believes that every individual, whether black, brown, or white, who works full time deserves a fair wage. We also believe that quality childcare should be accessible and affordable to all families regardless of income. We organize parents and advocate for the expansion and permanence of the Child Tax Credit.

Voter Education

GSOP takes great pride in our nonpartisan voter education program. We have conducted over a half dozen events in the last couple of years to provide educational opportunities in Spanish and English for new voters about who is running, what the different ballot positions mean, and more. These outreach events allow community members to interact more with their neighbors and speak on the issues they are passionate about.
