Many of you know Viola Katusiime, Granite State Organizing Project’s Family and Economic Security Organizer.  You may have seen her working with kids in Elmwood Gardens, at a protest in front of a Senator’s office, standing in front of a fast food restaurant leading a vigil for higher wages or you may have worked with her on retirement security and elder care issues.

Maybe you know Viola because she calls you every month to see if you need a ride to one of our GSOP meetings or events or maybe she has knocked on your door to ask you what your community concerns are. What you may NOT know about Viola is that she is in the U.S.  on an extended student visa and she will have to leave the country next year, unless GOSP can obtain a work permit ( an H1-B Visa), for her to continue building community with us.

While we do have funding to pay a salary to Viola, there are no grant funds that can be used for the fees involved in filing for a Visa.

Thanks to your generous support, we raised all the funds needed to apply for the Visa!
